SHEFFIELD™ 10 BUSHING STOCK – 4140/50 (modified)
Quench & Tempered Ultra High Strength Alloy Hollow Bar

Available Sizes

3" O.D. x 1-1/2" I.D. 4-1/2" O.D. x 2-1/2" I.D.
3-1/2" O.D. x 1-1/2" I.D. 5" O.D. x 3" I.D.
4" O.D. x 2" I.D. 6" O.D. x 3-1/2" I.D.

Sheffield™ 10 Bushing Stock is engineered to be used for a variety of finished parts. It is easy to machine and because of the I.D., requires less machining time. Available in 18" lengths, most sizes are able to be rushed to your site via UPS or FedEx.

Sheffield™ 10 is a hardened alloy material ideal for most general maintenance applications. The service temperature limit is about 875°F. You benefit from all of the same advantages found in our Sheffield™ #10 solid alloy bar stock. This hollow bar is fatigue resistant and responds well to most surface hardening treatments; including flame hardening, induction hardening, and nitriding.

Typical Applications

  • Dies
  • Sleeves
  • Bushings
  • Unions
  • Wear Rings
  • Washers
  • Hex Nuts

Machines typical to 4140/50 Q&T

Follow the Standard Low Hydrogen Method. Utilize an E7018, or E8018 rod.

Keep weld area clean, preheat with shop torch covering a broad area to minimize overheating.
300°F – 400°F is sufficient to avoid shocking the steel. Weld so as to cause minimum heat input.

SHEFFIELD™ 10 BUSHING STOCK offers you all the same features and benefits you have been realizing from our SHEFFIELD #10 ultra high strength, fatigue resistant alloy bar stock; such as:

  • High Strength
  • Stress Relieved
  • Ease of Welding
  • Fewer Hard and Soft Spots
  • Ease of Machining
  • Deep and Uniform Hardening
  • Responsive to Various Surface Hardening Methods
  • Fatigue Resistant Parts
  • Long Wearing Parts

In addition, you get:

  • Fast shipment of a hollow die block shipped from stock; most sizes are able to be shipped
UPS or FedEx, for speed and handling
  • Faster machining to speed up installation and minimize downtime
